Science Camp alumni know that they never fully leave the NYSC; rather they are on one very long OCE (out of camp experience). In a new recurring feature, the Foundation will highlight alumni with photos of themselves and NYSC-branded items (shirts, Nalgenes, flying discs, etc.) in their adventures around the world. To be considered for this series, please send your photo along with a caption and a short personal bio to oce@nysc.org. And, if you need some NYSC stuff to take on your OCE, please visit the online Camp Store.

Ms. Dana Kroop, CA 2003, Staph 2004

In between quitting my job as a professional museum educator at The Field Museum in Chicago and going back to school to become a Family Nurse Practitioner, I took some time to explore the Middle East. In this shot, I was out hiking in Ein Gedi, a natural preserve close to Masada, in Israel. While in Israel, I took in amazing sights, floated in the Dead Sea, and spent 6 weeks working as a paramedic on local ambulances. Good thing I had my NYSC Nalgene with me to keep me hydrated through it all!
