Site plans revealed for 111-acre youth science center in Canaan Valley

CHARLESTON, WV. — After more than a decade of planning, the National Youth Science Foundation has finalized site plans for its permanent 111-acre youth science center in the secluded mountains of the Canaan Valley in Tucker County.

The foundation plans for the $50 million facility along the Blackwater River near Davis to draw in young scientists from across the country and around the world for science immersion and outdoor programs.

For almost 50 years, West Virginia’s Monongahela National Forest has been the summer home to thousands of U.S. high school graduates and international students who have flocked to Pocahontas County for a prestigious science camp taught by top scientists.
