Within a short distance of the facility, one can find a wide variety of trails. Spruce Knob Mountain, the highest peak in West Virginia, features beautiful creeks and beaver dams. North Fork Mountain provides a more challenging trail with no surface water, but features spectacular views of the area from the trail along its ridge. Dolly Sods Wilderness Area is well-protected from the ravages of man and is a unique hiking experience.
