The National Youth Science Foundation is pleased to announce that it will host the second session of the Youth Science Leadership Institute from 11 July 2006 through 26 July 2006. For more information, please visit the YSLI web site at www.ysli.org. In the summer of 2002, the National Youth Science Foundation hosted its first-ever international program, the North American Youth Science Leadership Institute. The Institute was a pilot program, and funding is currently being sought so that we may continue to offer the program on an ongoing basis. At present, there is no funding available to offer the program in the summer of 2003. The North American Youth Science Leadership Institute is an intense two week-long immersion into science and leadership for young scientists from North America. In a rustic setting, students will be challenged academically in exciting lectures and hands-on studies, and will have opportunities to push themselves physically in an extensive outdoor program. The mission of the Institute: To develop a community of young leaders of North America who are empowered to make scientifically sound, socially responsible decisions about natural resource management, economic development, and democratic governance, balancing local, national, and regional needs to maximize goodwill, prosperity, and security across the region. Students from Mexico, Canada, and the United States are invited to participate in this all-expenses paid program. They will learn about issues of concern to the countries and peoples of North America, develop leadership skills, gain understanding and appreciation for the great outdoors, and build friendships that will last a lifetime. Feel free to contact us with any questions about the program. |
