2009 National Youth Science Camp - Lecture Series

Dr. Julie Robinson

International Space Station Program Scientist, NASA Johnson Space Center

Science and the International Space Station

The International Space Station (ISS) is now just a year away from completion. Key NASA objectives for its scientific use over the next five years are (1) human physiology, (2) technology testing, (3) basic life and physical sciences. The Space Station is also now available for other government agencies and the private sector as a National laboratory. This lecture will discuss these objectives in the context of the earlier returns or research done while the ISS was being assembled and encourage discussion on the scientific challenges associated with such a large engineering project.
