Public Contributors

The Foundation gratefully acknowledges the Citizens and State of West Virginia for generous financial support of the National Youth Science Camp, and proudly recognizes

for confidence and support given to this West Virginia initiative that has enriched the lives of promising young science students who merit special recognition since 1963.

The Foundation extends special thanks to:

  • U.S. Senator Robert C. Byrd, who provides the constant support and encouragement that have made the program stronger,
  • U.S. Senator Jay Rockefeller, for his long-standing interest in the Foundation
  • U.S. Congressman Alan B. Mollohan, who, along with Senator Byrd, has demonstrated foresight and initiative in helping obtain funding from the
  • U.S. Department of State Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, which permitted the Foundation to annually support international programming at the NYSC and to continue to develop and implement the Youth Science Leadership Institute, and to
  • U.S. Congresswoman Shelley Moore Capito, who has provided hospitality to the NYSC delegates during a visit to the nation’s capital.

The Foundation recognizes the West Virginia Experimental Program to Stimulate Competitive Research (WVEPSCoR) for providing funding through the Research Challenge Fund in support of the 2005-07 Green Bank sessions of the West Virginia Governor’s School for Mathematics and Science.  The Research Challenge Fund was established to support research initiatives and is a critical component of the state’s strategic plan for economic development.

The Foundation acknowledges

for having the forethought to recognize that encouraging science and mathematics education in West Virginia’s youth is an essential component of the comprehensive strategy to improve the economic competitivenessamerican international groupand viability of West Virginia.
The Foundation also recognizes Isidore and Annie Adler, for whom the NYSC endowment fund is named.  Dr. Isidore Adler, Ph.D. (dec.) was a senior scientist with NASA during the Apollo program with responsibility for the geo-chemical mapping of the moon, and was one of the first to analyze Moon rocks returned to Earth on the missions.  It is with the Adler Fund that the Foundation honors this man and woman who made great contributions to society and who enthusiastically supported the NYSC.
