Press Room February 14, 2008 - The Foundation's West Virginia Governor's School for Mathematics and Science was recently featured on West Virginia Public Broadcasting's Lab 304 series. the video segment includes extensive commentary by the Foundation's executive director, Dr. Andy Blackwood (more). October 1, 2007 - The Foundation is pleased to announce that Ms. Laine Lybeck (Montana, 2003), has joined the Foundation staff as Director of Alumni Affairs and Development. Ms. Lybeck will facilitate substantial outreach to participants in Foundation programs and will work closely with the National Youth Science Camp Alumni Association. (more news) |

Dr. D. Holmes Morton, M.D.D. Holmes Morton, M.D., a pediatrician originally from Southern West Virginia, has lectured at the NYCS for 21 years. Along with his wife, Caroline Smith, he founded the Clinic for Special Children, a facility specializing in serving children who have inherited disorders. Holmes has received numerous awards, including the 2006 MacArthur Foundation 'Genius' award as a country doctor and research physician, the Smithsonian Institution Award for Innovations in Technology (twice), and the Albert Schweitzer Prize for Humanitarianism (1993). 2008 NYSC Applications Available The Foundation and Governor Joe Manchin III of the State of West Virginia are excited to announce that applications are now available for the 2008 National Youth Science Camp. The 2008 NYSC will be held at Camp Pocahontas in the Monongahela National Forest near the National Radio Astronomy Observatory in the eastern mountains of West Virginia. Delegates to the 2008 NYSC will arrive in Charleston, WV, the State's capital, on Sunday, June 29, 2008, and will depart on Saturday, July 26, 2008. Delegates participate free of charge, transportation included. (more) |

National Center for Youth Science Education The Foundation has developed a plan to construct a facility to house new programs for teachers and students. The proposed Center will be an energy-saving residential community capable of housing up to 250 students and an adequate number of staff members and visiting scientists. The Center will become a focal point for youth science education, one that will encourage and inspire youth to pursue scientific careers. (more) |

Welcome to National Youth Science Foundation. Since 1983, the Foundation has been dedicated to supporting and operating innovative, youth science education programs. The Foundation's premiere program, the National Youth Science Camp, has served more than 4,400 students from across the United States at around the world since 1963. Through this and other education programs, the Foundation strives to achieve its mission to honor, sustain, and encourage youth interest in science. With the help of concerned individuals and organizations, the Foundation will continue to have a positive impact on the the quality and effectiveness of science leaders for generations.
